Financial Beginnings provides educational programs to give individuals the foundation they need to make informed financial decisions. Engages community volunteers to read one on one with pre-K to third-grade children who need literacy support. Participating children also receive new books each month to keep and read at home. http://www.getsmartoregon.org
Protects and restores the Willamette River ecosystem in its entirety. Last year, WR restored 562 acres of river habitat, including planting more than 126,300 native plants. It also engaged more than 2,208 people with the river.
Empowers Portland’s underserved youth through art and music, and inspire the next generation of creative leaders. Vibe provides music and fine-arts education by connecting students with local professional artists and musicians within their communities. http://vibepdx.org
Provides a hot meal to every senior who requests one without having to institute a waiting list. Last year, it served and delivered 1.3 million meals to more than 17,000 older adults in the community. https://www.mealsonwheelspeople.org
Provides life-saving services to adults and children escaping domestic violence. Offers resources and personalized support to help survivors obtain housing, employment, self-sufficiency and safety. http://raphaelhouse.com
Providing quality food and vital veterinary care for the family pets of anyone in honest need, keeping them safe, healthy and out of the shelters. 90,000 animals helped; 9,000,000 healthy meals provided. http://www.thepongofund.org
